Higher temperatures are fuelling wildfires
Intense heat is spawning worsening wildfires and supersize fires.
2019 was the hottest, driest year in Australia since records began. Record temperatures of up to 49.9°C caused catastrophic blazes.
18 million hectares were incinerated – more than the whole state of Florida.

Terrifying fires also raged through California, the Arctic and the Amazon in 2019 destroying :
– forests
– homes
– businesses
The fires also killed people and wildlife.
In 2019 it seemed as if:
‘The Earth was on fire.’

This map shows Central America in 2019. Every orange dot was a fire blazing –
And as trees burned, they released the carbon they stored into Earth’s atmosphere intensifying the problem.

Additionally once the trees burn, they are no longer there to extract carbon dioxide out of Earth’s atmosphere – so a double edged sword.

Lewis
Up to a billion creatures died in Australia alone – a horrifying death as they tried to flee flames up to 70 metres high or over 200 ft.
You may find the following footage upsetting but it is just one billionth of the story :
